Known largely for his 6 successful years on Radio 1 (hosting the Weekend Breakfast show and various shows with fellow Dreem Teem members Timmi Magic and Mikee B) and 7 years hosting the hugely successful ‘606’ on BBC Radio 5 Live, Spoony has been a professional DJ/Broadcaster for nearly 20 years.

From pirate radio to Kiss FM, a ground making move to Galaxy then and award winning stint on Radio 1, Spoony’s career has always been on the move.

One of the founding fathers of UK Garage, it was always his mission to take the sound, with the Dreem Teem, to all corners of the world. New York, Miami, South Africa and Dubai we all dancing to the UKG, but it was the years spent in Ibiza and Ayai Napa that made the most noise. In this time they had two top 40 hits ‘Buddy X’ and ‘Dreem Teem Theme’.spoony

Resident DJ at Pacha, Eden and Es Paradis, UK Garage offered an alternative to the ‘heavier’ house played in Ibiza. The nights were packed and he played there every year for 14 years. Ayai Napa became the spiritual home of UK Garage and Spoony’s relationship with the island (played at the first ever Garage promotion there) meant he was ideally placed to be a part of Radio One’s first outside broadcast there.

In the UK, a residency at the legendary and award winning ‘Twice as Nice’ meant a weekly opportunity to spin to a discerning and well educated crowd. This was the jewel in his crown.

As well as numerous corporate events for the likes of Apple, Samsung, Selfridges and Alfred Dunhill, he has also performed at private functions for David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Dynamo Magician. He hosts many ‘Red Carpet’ events for Sony Pictures, recently appearing alongside Jamie Foxx at the ‘Spiderman 2’ premier and can add Will Smith, Sylvester Stallone and Samuel L Jackson to that ‘A’ list.

As well as national radio, he has taken part in the UK’s top TV shows. Strictly Come Dancing, The Weakest Link and Celebrity Mastermind (which he won). He currently can be seen weekly on the internationally broadcast ‘FanZone’ on Premier League TV and be heard on Alan Brazil’s Breakfast Show on TalkSport.

The return to music broadcasting was completed when he joined Ministry of Sound Radio in 2013. He has also formed a production outfit with partner Leroy Williams called ‘Madrigals’. A UK and European tour is planned for 2015 featuring a live band.
